The plaza, with its signature serpentine pattern inspired by the sidewalks at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, creates a unique sense of place in the Rockefeller Center. The entire plaza has been transformed– a smaller, pedestrian-friendly fountain replaces the original fountain, the signature terrazzo has been fully restored and a new breezeway was added to connect Sixth Avenue to the main lobby.
Building improvements include an extensive restoration and reconfiguration of the unique and historic lobby.
